Welcome to “The City Beautiful”: What Orlando Has to Offer You

“The City Beautiful”, the nickname for Orlando, Florida, is a fitting moniker for good reason, because it’s beautiful all year long. It is a great place to live and an even better place for a vacation. Fifty-one million people a year can’t be wrong, after all (that is the number of people who choose to vacation here each year). And 3.6 million of those people are international tourists, from all corners of the globe. That begs the question: what is it about Orlando that makes so many people choose it as their vacation destination? Could it be the copious amount of theme parks, the assortment of restaurants, the wild nightlife, the proximity to beaches or could it be a combination of everything? Orlando has something to offer everyone, regardless of their taste or budget. If you are thinking about heading to Orlando for some R and R, here are some ideas for to consider for your trip.

The Theme Parks

No trip to Orlando would be complete without a visit to a theme park. Make sure to give yourself time, because these theme parks are so large, it can be impossible to see everything.
What Orlando Has to Offer You - My Time Matters BlogDisney World – This theme park holds the title of the most visited entertainment resort in the world. It is called “the happiest place on earth” and consists of seven theme parks. To see everything might take more than one vacation alone. The most popular of the seven is The Magic Kingdom. Here imagination runs wild, Disney creations come to life and adults can be transformed into children again. There are thrill rides, fantasy rides, elaborate shows, eclectic food and more.

The other theme parks that are part of Disney World are: Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Wild World of Sports. Tourists can enjoy free transportation throughout all of the parks during the appropriate hours.

Universal Studios – This theme park consists of both Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. No matter which one you are visiting, expect lots of fast-paced thrill rides. Some of the rides will take you through some of the world’s most famous movies (like “E.T.”), cartoons and television shows. There are live shows being filmed daily as well. Tourists don’t just sit back and watch the action at this theme park: they get to participate in movies and shows. Universal Studios also offers on-site hotels and restaurants for tourists’ essential needs.

Sea World – Sea World is the closest thing that you can get to seeing everything that the ocean has to offer.. You are able to see sharks, fish, seals, dolphins, killer whales, even bears, up close and personal. Sea World has thrill rides, too, to suit the more adrenaline-driven tourist.  Sea World also boasts its own water park, Aquatica, where tourists can ride wild water rides and surf in a wave pool.  In addition, Sea World also has an additional theme park known as Discovery Cove. This park gives tourists a chance to swim with dolphins or even tour a reef.

Enjoying Orlando Without the Theme Parks

There is more to Orlando than a handful of theme parks, though, so take heart if a theme park is not your “thing,” per se. Orlando has an awesome nightlife that is filled with nightclubs, bars and places to eat.  It is also located in the middle of Florida. On Florida’s east coast, you have the Atlantic Ocean. It’s an hour’s drive from Orlando and  has some of the world’s best beaches. On the west coast, you have the warm, tropical waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Regardless of where you choose to stay, you will need to find an affordable way to get to Orlando. Some prefer to drive, but if you don’t, you will have absolutely no problem finding last minute cheap flights to Orlando. Being one of the top tourist destinations in the world also means that there will be a wide range of flights to choose from. So no matter what your intentions are in this “beautiful” city, if you are visiting, give yourself enough time to soak in everything it has to offer.

  1. I think this was fairly interesting, as seeing I always envisioned Orlando at Mickey Mouse’s home and not much else.
