Richard Branson’s Bash at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

On the forefront of things it’s interesting to see how certain events shape themselves into progressive connections.

In case you didn’t know. Sir Richard Branson started a chain of record stores called Virgin Records, after that the Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s. At that time Virgin Atlantic Airways was set up and the progression of Virgin Records continued.

According to Forbes 2011 list Branson is 4th richest citizen of the United Kingdom and 254th richest person in the world with the net worth of US $4.2 billion.

Amongst many projects that Branson is involved with Virgin Galactic has been the highlight of his talk when he visited Richmond, VA. As of September 2011 there are over 450 ticket holders of paying passengers to go onboard on these newly designed spacecraft carriers to experience zero gravity. To undergo this experience of a life time the current price is $200,000 per person with a $20,000 deposit. With time these prices will decrease as the popularity of space travel evolves.

It’s truly mind boggling to see what Richard Branson has done from acquiring an idea and turning it into reality.

One fine day I was attending a LinkedIn live event and stumbled upon the think tank responsible for managing Branson’s conference and the after party. As we got to talking it was a no brainer that these types of events are something that we need to see in RVA. Not only because it’s a celebrity hitting the town, but also the caliber of people interested in Branson and his team. Not to mention the money raised for nonprofits. This bash would bring forth many connections and collaborations, and it has.

Very cool, Vitaly! Did you get to attend? I'm a big fan of Richard Branson and Richmond, Virginia so I'm glad not only that he visited, but that it was a big bash.

Although I'm a big fan of many of his products and services, I don't think I'll be a passenger on Virgin Galactic.

How about you, Vitaly? Would you like to get a ticket for Virgin Galactic? What if it were free?

    • Hey Carolyn. Thanks! Richard Branson is truly an amazing entrepreneur and I'm also a fan. I was definitely enjoying myself at the bash. The entire VMFA museum was open throughout the entire time with live acts, djs, open bar, people such as David Karp (Tumblr CEO) Buzz Aldrin etc.

Carolyn, I can see how Virgin Galactic scenario may not sit well with some people but for me I don't think I would pass up an out of this world experience!

    Hi Vitaly,

I am a big fan of Richard Branson as well. He is my role model and I really aspire to becoming as impactful as he is today. He is someone who is about heart for the people. Whatever he does, if to improve lives. Beyond that, his eccentricity is also his hallmark for people like me.

Like all his events, I am sure this event that you have posted on was exhilarating for everyone whom had attend one. This is the man who flies in holding onto the skids of helicopter on his wedding day. What else can you expect?

I have two dreams: 1) Meet Sir Richard personally and 2) Ride on his space craft.

    Great photos of the events.

    • Hey Jimmy, you're spot on – Richard Branson is an great humanitarian and the event did live up to its potential. Exactly, he has done some crazy things.
I wish you best of luck on your dreams and hopefully they will come to reality sooner than later.

Love this guy, very creative, inspiring and a little crazy (that's what I love, normal is boring and won't bring much change, lol). Thx for sharing the photos, loved the lit Martini glasses,
