HO HO HO … Happy Holidays to YOU and a happy birthday to ME

Well, today is my birthday and it is also Christmas! I am in a great mood, slightly hung over. Although I know it sucks having your birthday on the only day that EVERYONE else gets presents… I bet you never thought of it that way hah. But it’s all good, I had a LOT of time to get over it, I am getting older and not younger. However, with age comes wisdom.

I created this blog for a reason, and it’s also a hobby of mine that will continue to prosper and grow. So if you are one of many that reads this blog, I will be posting something like this once a year (probably on my birthday), or some very important information or update that is interesting enough to go under the “my time matters” category. Basically, it’s almost the end of the year, and I have learned, gained, lost, prospered, and obtained a lot of knowledge and information. So why not just sum up the year and what’s to come, so to say.

First of all, those that follow this blog know by now that I rarely write these articles. I hire freelancers to write for me, they do the research; I proofread and post it up.  Of course I tell them the subjects, categories, and so forth to write about. Although every now and then I’ll post an article or two about things that interest me.

Now this has been a very good year for me, as it should be for you too. You have survived, you have gotten more knowledge and are consistently improving yourself and your situation. But enough about YOU, it’s my birthday so lets talk about ME. Holidays are all about sharing. But this is my blog.

I have learned to accept people and their failure and have learned that reliability is very hard to find in individuals. Now you might think to yourself, “I always keep my word” “I’m always on time” “I have never failed anyone or anything”. Well my friend, ask yourself this, how many times have you been late for work. How many times you have called in because you were sick or had an “emergency”. How many times have you postponed something that you could have done that day (ultimately lied to yourself). How many times did you plan on making a certain phone call, and just forgot about it, or never managed to call on time. Forgot to do something for a co-worker or a friend.  We are all full of excuses. I have learned that we are all HUMAN, and we all fail at certain instances. Now, I just touched on the tip of an iceberg, because in a true working environment you must always have a backup plan. Remember, don’t PREDICT, but PREPARE. So this year, I have re-enforced myself to have an exit strategy and not stress out, because the more work you get into, the more you’ll begin to realize that people are flaky individuals and that is why there are tons of success coaches out there that are making bank. They train these people and push them to get things done, because they can’t do it on their own.

I now know that I can’t do everything by myself. I need to surround myself with successful people, people that are better than me, people that will adjust me with constructive criticism. Individuals that will push me, mentor me, and correct me. Just being around these people excites me, because I know that they have been where I have been, essentially. As they say, knowledge is power; however that isn’t true, in fact that’s a very BOLD statement. APPLIED knowledge is POWER. What’s the point of knowing something if you’re not gonna apply it?

Along with having a mentor, it is always good to be a teacher, or mentor someone else. Why do you believe teachers constantly re-enforce their education. That is due to teaching, you are actually learning while you teach. Crazy concept isn’t it? Because what do students do when they have a question… they ask the all knowing teacher. If you don’t know an answer, you obtain it… and guess what, you are teaching something that you have learned. It’s an ongoing cycle. On the plus side, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, teaching and providing knowledge. Which brings me back to the topic of my freelance writers, every time they submit an article; obviously I proof read it… and guess what!?! Just like you, my dear blog reader… I learn a lot from reading those articles.

Amongst many categories, this blog is about creating wealth, and a lifestyle that you want for yourself. And just like anything else, our lifestyles revolve around money; we just have to have it. Did you know that 83% of people think about money rather than sex? Well, in this society we are conditioned to believe that money makes us happy, and I am not even going to argue that one, we all love money. However our LOVE for money is our downfall. Just this past year I realized that thinking about money properly, by that I mean, with positive energy you will realize that money is helpful, but you can do with what you have. If you are constantly telling yourself that you are going broke, or always saving money for a “rainy day” or an emergency… well what you are really doing is putting negative energy and thoughts on the money that you own. Therefore, you will have money problems… because you are associating money with problems and emergencies. You don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, you might find a thousand dollars, rather than getting into a car accident or getting sick or any other type of an emergency. Just eliminate those negative thoughts, and you will see the difference. Remember, pay yourself first.

Lastly, since we are on the topic of money, and that’s what we all really care about in the end hah. Just remember associate positive thoughts and money, and you’ll get whatever you desire. Anyway, charities are an important role in my life, if I see an organization that I think is striving to make this world a better place; I will throw some money that direction. You might be thinking to yourself now… “what if I don’t have any money to give up”, so you’re saying this Christmas season when you walked into a mall and you saw the guy wiggling that bell for a charity… you didn’t have 10 cents to spare? If you honestly think that way, you have a lot of learning to do. From many books that I have read, they have always suggested that, the more you give, the more you get back… it’s like the law of the Universe. I thought these people were crazy myself. You are telling me, I give my money up, and then I will have it returned back to me SOMEHOW? Well, I actually put that theory to the test this year, and I must say I can’t complain, don’t knock it till you try it. Now I am not saying when you see a homeless guy out on the street you should give him money… honestly use your common sense, this homeless person is just going to go and buy some alcohol or a crack hit and that’s it. Give charities to organizations that help homeless people as a whole. When you’re in a McDonalds, KFC, Kroger, or wherever else, at the end of your order they ask if you wish to donate a dollar. It’s a damn dollar, just do it… let me know if you feel bad for doing it afterwards. Just give what you can; I’m not saying give to charities every time you see them. But whatever you feel comfortable with, and you’ll see it get back at you one way or another… it’s the law of the Universe.

At the end of the day, I’m grateful for all the opportunities, experiences, people I’ve met and this blog.

Have a great Holiday season.
