Why
Why??
Why do you have this blog?
What makes this blog different?
Hmm, those are good questions! In short, I love the internet and the finite information that it provides. Well, to some that know how to use it properly… I would image that the information could be infinite as well.
That being said, this blog is called MY TIME MATTERS for a reason. Actually as the time went on, and my knowledge base increased (it still does on daily basis), with the help of the people I have met, the books I have read, and the places I have been at. All those things have benefited me, and still do, since I still continue to read, learn, watch, work, and meet great individuals.
My time matters, why? Well, for a while now, I am being asked to help various people, with all sorts of issues. As you may think you know a lot about computers, and I do not doubt that you do, a lot of people still don’t know the basics. Help one person, and all of the sudden everyone and their mother needs help. So, I have friends, family members, co-workers, affiliates, people I don’t know, and the list goes on, that need help with whatever their computer issues may be. I also know enough about cell phones, where everyone wants their phone cracked, unlocked, jailbrocken, so they can do all the cool things that they hear about.
Don’t get me wrong, I love helping people, however, I have realized that TIME IS MONEY, one day it hit me… time is money, and MY TIME MATTERS. WHHOOLLAAAA now we have this blog. Well, not really there is one more thing I want you guys to take away from this, which benefited this blog and myself a whole lot.
Being an entrepreneur, and being around like minded people, my mind is always racing. So, myself and this guy… I’ll name him Bob, no, fuck that his name is Tony, and till this day… I am not upset, I have learned a lot, so thank you Tony. Anyway, Tony is a great guy, we have a lot in common, his business knowledge is great and he’s just an outgoing smart guy. I mean, why wouldn’t he be? He did make 980k in one year, almost a million, obviously he had to pay his employees, and there are a lot of expenses, anyway you got the idea. He knows a lot about perfume oils, and has done it in the past with success before he moved down here from up North. Long story short, we were going to be a perfume oil wholesaler (and much more). We had the idea and a bulletproof plan. He was good at marketing the stuff and had tons of connects, and just knew the perfume oil business. I on the other hand am good at web site creation, back-end server stuff, FTP, and domains. What a great combo, therefore we were just going to split the profits 50/50. Obviously the website needs to be created first, then the inventory, and to top it off I have already reserved the myperfumeoil.com and myperfumeoils.com domains, that was the business name. After that, you just market the stuff and sell it. Plus we have already had a lot of buyers. Anyway, I agreed to make the website (e-commerce shopping cart) and cover all those expenses myself, and he would cover all the back-end expenses, like the 1-800 number and credit card transactions, plus few other things you guys won’t care to know about. It took me a month to work on this, would have been longer, but hell, I was too excited. I can’t even describe the amount of work it took, the time, the energy, and many fun nights of not going out, ohh did I mention that I was paying for all of this too However, as I was doing this project I did learn a lot about the e-commerce business and much more that I will blog about in the future. Throughout this whole time, Tony and I kept in touch obviously via person, and phone, and as he saw the web site come together he was getting as excited as I was. Anyway, the time has come to launch this massive e-commerce site that I have built, all I needed to do was press “publish” and it would have been up. So, I call him up; instruct him to launch the 1-800 number and the credit card process tomorrow. The date for launch has been set. Here comes the drum roll… … … … … so I call him up, he doesn’t answer. I’m thinking to myself, what the fuck. So I call my other contact (we all worked together in one form or another) ask him if he has heard of Tony. His reply to me is “yeah, Tony had a family emergency; in fact he just quit the job here today”. This person was also upset beyond imagination, since they lost an employee. For me, I was upset because I lost a great opportunity, but really I was more ticked off for the simple fact that I have put in MY TIME into it … and guess what, I didn’t get paid for it. Time is money, and MY TIME MATTERS.
Now, I have learned so much from this experience, I’m even glad I paid for this. I am being serious. This is partially WHY this blog is created. In “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki he states that you need to start 10 businesses in order for one of them to work, most of the time. Now, he isn’t saying put in all your money into one business, one business can cost you a million bucks, or a business can simply be an IDEA. Remember, our ideas are the most expensive assets that we own.
